Shop Tax Free
Pay No Sales Tax
Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on August 20, 21 and 22 - the state's annual tax holiday. Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday.

Shop extended hours at Parkdale Mall on:
August 20 from 9am - 10pm
August 21 from 9am - 10pm
August 22 from 11am - 8pm

What is exempt?
As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing and footwear priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. Backpacks under $100 and used by elementary and secondary students are also exempt. A backpack is a pack with straps one wears on the back. The exemption during the sales tax holiday includes backpacks with wheels, provided they can also be worn on the back like a traditional backpack, and messenger bags. The exemption does not include items that are reasonably defined as luggage, briefcases, athletic/duffle/gym bags, computer bags, purses or framed backpacks. Ten or fewer backpacks can be purchased tax-free at one time without providing an exemption certificate to the seller.

Parkdale Mall Leases More than 70,000 Square-Feet in New Retail
In the last five months Parkdale Mall has leased 70,236 square-feet in new retail space.

Beginning in January, Ashley Furniture built out over 26,000 square-feet near Macy’s and Kaplan University opened as an out parcel near Parkdale Crossing taking over 30,000 square-feet of space.

Earthbound Trading Company, new to the Beaumont area, will occupy 3,062 square-feet in the Dillard’s wing and is projected to open near the end of June 2010.

Beauty superstore, ULTA, is also new to the Beaumont area. The 10,465 square-foot store takes over a portion of the previous Old Navy location adding a new exterior entrance. ULTA is projected to open in the fall of 2010.

Old Navy has relocated to the former Steve & Barry’s Sportswear location and cut 12,412 square-feet to remodel and open a new prototype store.

4 Tip to Toe Nail Salon has also relocated as a result of the opening of ULTA. The popular nail salon has relocated to an 800 square-foot space in front of the wooden court area near Sunken Court and is now open under the name Elegant Nail Salon.

Capturing the remaining 5,633 square-feet of the former Old Navy location at Center Court will be American Eagle Outfitters. This new location offers the retailer an additional 1,300 square-feet.

Buckle is also remodeling their current location and capturing a portion of the former Limited Too store. The new 5,500 square-foot prototype store will open this fall. They are currently open in a temporary location in the Sears wing.

Justice has taken the 3,296 square-foot space next to XXI – Forever 21 that opened last year.

Wet Seal completed a remodel in their current location in May 2010. The assortment includes fashion apparel and an expanded accessory, shoe and intimate area.

“The recent changes and additions at Parkdale Mall is a testament to the strong local economy,” reports Brian Lutz, Marketing Specialist for CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. “The shopping center continues to change and evolve with the needs of our shoppers.
